About Me
Tim Morton
With over 12 years of experience, my goal is to make insurance fun. Well, as fun as it can be that is! I truly love what I do, and the old adage has proven true "Love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life". When not in my office, you can find me with my wife and daughter and our dog, Ranger.
While MN is home and where I was born, raised, and State Fair fed (if you know, you know), my family and I love to travel, with my favorite place (so far) to visit being Carolina Beach, NC.
My Journey
When I first became an insurance agent, it wasn’t part of some grand career plan. Like many people, I was trying to figure out "what to be when I grow up." One thing I knew for sure – I wanted to work with people from all walks of life, in different parts of the country. I never thought I'd land in sales, but the moment I joined a large, national insurance agency, I fell in love with the work.
That was over 12 years ago. Since then, I've had the privilege of helping families - both new and established, from first-time homeowners to retirees moving into their dream homes, protect what matters most. After spending five years at that large agency, the doors unexpectedly closed. I briefly stepped away from insurance, but it didn’t take long to realize that this industry was where I truly belonged. I joined a captive carrier, but the limited options left me wanting more. I wanted to connect with clients across state lines, meeting different needs and working with different carriers. That’s when I found Rate Insurance, and for the last three years, I’ve been doing exactly what I love.

My Mission
A Personal Approach to Protection
Insurance isn’t just about policies and premiums. It’s about people. I believe there’s no such thing as a "one-size-fits-all" policy, which is why I take the time to get to know each client and their unique needs. Whether it’s a first-time homeowner figuring out coverage or a retiree reassessing their options, I aim to provide as much or as little information as they need to feel confident. I understand that insurance can feel overwhelming, and my goal is to make it simple, approachable, and maybe even a little fun.
I take pride in being responsive and available when clients need me. Questions, claims, changes, or the occasional emotional outburst – I’m here to help navigate those moments. There’s nothing more rewarding than saving someone hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars a year all while helping a family understand the coverage that protects their biggest investments.
Why Work With Me?
Clients choose to work with me not just because I offer multiple carriers and options, but because of the personal connection we build. I treat my clients like people, not policy numbers. I make sure they feel heard and valued, and that extends beyond just the sale. I’ve had clients refer friends and family even when I couldn’t directly provide a policy for them. I’ve received thank-you cards and even holiday notes – reminders that this work is about relationships as much as it is about coverage.
And one more thing – I won’t send you a birthday email to sell you life insurance. We all know how old we are and the importance of protecting our families, but I believe those moments should be celebrated, not turned into sales pitches!
Community Engagement
Community involvement is extremely important, not only to me, but also in the Rate family of companies. I like to spend time with different brewery volunteer groups in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Some of my favorites are building dressers for families in need of items to furnish their homes. Helping different local organizations combat food insecurity. Working in community gardens. You can also find me a few times per year working alongside my father on a Habitat for Humanity build or rehab.
